What a long and illustirous comedy heritage we have in Liverpool with him and her and the others.(research pending)

And the hits just keep on coming! Check out the gigs section for all your comedy listings or visit our comedy links for details of great local events and comics

www.expresscomedy.com

Express Comedy are a Wirral based outfit run by two Yorkshire blokes from Hull. They have two regular comedy gigs, one for novice comics and the other for seasoned professional acts.

The scouse House is the novice end of the market with the usual mix of 'old codger does poetry', nervous alien-story-spouting odd ball, as well as a few nice little comedy gems in the form of hard working open mic fodder. All the acts are brave folks and have my respect.

Showing his support, I was amazed to see the great John Gorman of Tizwaz (bucket 'o' water fling!) For those of you the right side of thirty, he is a legend in these here parts. John has spend much of his time in the states, and has become a bit of a political comedy activist with a comic song/poem about George Bush. It was great to see that John is still on the circuit and endorsing the Express Comedy venture.

The night is held together with an unusual but funny compere duo act Ben and Sam Harland, who manage to make the chaos quite entertaing. At one point I even had a little bit of wee come out! Well worth checking this out. (the comedy not the puddle)

The George Hotel Bebington is Express Comedy's professional night.

This has moved from the Lauries Centre where I last saw their comedy offerings. At that time the audience had a real treat as the boys managed a real comedy coup in the form of Tom binns aka Ivan Brackenberry - Hospital Radio DJ spoof.

Tom Binns had then recently been nominated for the new Perrier award (now the if.comedy award) for his DJ character at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival.

I am glad to see that the standard has not dropped, with top acts still performing such as Keith Carter - Scallywagger BBC / Nige, Dom Carroll - Jonglers and R david - Jonglers / Ideal with Jonny Vegas BBC

Keep up the good work boys!
